People with diabetes are much more likely to suffer serious foot problems. Our comprehensive diabetic foot assessment will provide you with information about your current foot health. In order for you to maintain healthy feet and prevent future problems, government guidelines & Diabetes UK recommend that you have regular Diabetic Foot Assessments. People at higher risk of developing foot problems, require more frequent assessments.
Your Diabetic Foot Assessment includes :
· A vascular assessment of your foot pulses using a Doppler. A doppler is a hand held machine that enables us to listen to the 2 pulses in both of your feet. This provides us with an accurate understanding of the current condition of all 4 of your foot pulses.
· A nerve assessment using a Monofilament. A monofilament is a thin plastic device that allows us to assess how well you can feel fine touch on the skin of your feet.
· An assessment of the moisture level of your skin, using a skin moisture monitor. This will give us a numerical value for the level of moisture in your foot. This allows us to accurately monitor your skin condition and provide personalised advice about suitable treatments. An assessment of the overall skin condition of your feet. This will allow us to identify potential problem areas such as corns, callus and cracked heels. Medications, illness and day to day wear and tear can affect your skin condition.
After your assessment, you will be provided with the written results of our findings. The findings of our assessment will help us to determine your risk level for developing future foot problems.
